What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese science of living in harmony with the natural environment around us. The term Feng Shui, wind and water, refers to the early Chinese agrarian culture where the importance of sufficient water and mild winds cannot be overstated for a bountiful harvest.

Rivers and ponds provide the source of water and safeguards the survival of a farming community from drought. Mild winds bring rain and a freshness of the air to relief both the crops and the farmers. Against this you have stagnant pools breeding disease, floods and droughts, harsh winds, typhoons all of which can spell disaster for a rural society.

The placements of these early settlements were extremely important as the difference between a correct or incorrect site can spell the difference between life and death. The placements of these settlements were then studied, theories and hypothesis were formed based on the success and failures of various sites; giving birth to the science of Feng Shui.
